
Millersville tennis teams earn All-Academic and Scholar-Athlete honors from ITA

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. — Both Millersville tennis teams were named an ITA All-Academic Team as 14 Marauders across the men's and women's teams earned the individual honor of ITA Scholar-Athlete.
In order to qualify as All-Academic, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above, and ITA Scholar-Athletes must earn a 3.50 GPA or higher in the academic year. On the men's side, the team posted a GPA of 3.71, and the honorees included Breno Maciel, Dylan Tull, Jasper de Koning, Joel Oetliker, Sebas Castro, Valentin Ebner, Victor Suarez, and Zach Pernia. From the women's team, which had a 3.64 GPA, Hui Jen Soo, Kaitlyn Then, Lauren Hayes, Luci Consigliere, Noelle Htwar, and Sophie Lanius earned the individual distinction.
Tull and Pernia made up the top duo on the court for the Marauders this spring, with Tull earning a GPA of 3.79 this spring, and Pernia with a 4.0. de Koning was also a constant in the Marauders lineup and earned a 3.81 GPA this spring. The Marauders received a big boost from their freshman class, who not only performed well in their first year on the court, but in the classroom as well. Leading the class was Maciel and Castro, each recording 4.0 GPAs in the spring semester, followed by Ebner with a 3.89 GPA on the semester, Suarez with a 3.8 GPA from the spring, and Oetliker with a 3.53 cumulative GPA.
Htwar, who was named the PSAC East Athlete of the Year in women's tennis, finished the year with a 3.89 cumulative GPA. Helping lead the Marauders to a PSAC East championship were returning players, Hui Jen Soo, Sophie Lanius, and Kaitlyn Then. Soo posted a 3.82 GPA in the spring, Lanius owned a 3.94 cumulative GPA, and Then earned a 3.83 GPA for the semester. Like the men's team, the women's team received an immediate impact from its freshman class, led by Consigliere with a 3.88 cumulative GPA, and Hayes with a 3.54 cumulative GPA.
