Peters, Lugiano take first and second as Marauders tie wins record

| By:
DANVILLE, Pa. - Timothy Peters and Bobby Lugiano finished in the top two spots, and the Millersville men's golf team made history by winning Thursday's Bloomsburg Spring Invitational at Frosty Valley Country Club. Millersville's team victory was its sixth in 13 tournaments, tying a school record for wins in a season set in 2000-01.

Peters, a freshman, finished as medalist for the fourth time in his young career, shooting a 1-over-par 73, edging Lugiano by just one shot. Eric Miller continued his recent run of outstanding play, shooting a 76 and tying for fourth--his fourth-consecutive start finishing inside the top 11. Ty Morral placed eighth with a 5-over 77.

The Marauders bested seven other teams with a 17-over 305, topping Bloomsburg's No. 1 team by eight shots.

It was an up-and-down 18 holes for Peters, who carded four birdies, including three on par-4s. Peters played the back nine in 1-under-par. Lugiano shot a 37 on the front and back. Miller was a steady performer with 12 pars, including seven in a row from holes one through seven. Morral also parred the first seven holes and played holes 16-18 even.

Millersville's first win of the season came on Oct. 12 at the very same Frosty Valley Country Club course. That started a run of five wins in a row that stretched into March and included the PSAC Championship. The 2000-01 team won six times in 17 starts and placed fourth at the PSAC Championship.
