MILLERSIVLLE, Pa. — Two Marauders get to add one last bullet point to their career resumes, as Saige Shine and Kerstin Koons were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) 2024 Senior Team.
Coaches from across Division II nominate the recipients, and the winners are chosen based off their career accolades and accomplishments. The student-athletes that are selected are given the opportunity to play the other honorees and represent their team. This marks the second straight year the Marauders have put two seniors on the winners list after Bri Harsh and Qhayiya Nogoduka made the 2023 NFHCA Senior Team.
Shine was one of three co-captains for the Marauders this year and enjoyed a career-year offensively. Shine set a new personal record with three goals, two of which were game-winning goals. Shine finished her career with 38 starts, including starting in each of the last 34 games during her junior and senior year seasons.
Koons finishes her career as a Marauder with the second-most wins in program history for a goalkeeper, ending with a 47–25 record. The former All-American recorded at least three shutout wins in each of her four seasons as the starter for Millersville, finishing the season with three this year to go along with a .770 save percentage and 1.33 goals against average. Koons set a career-high in saves this season, stopping 77 shots on 100 shots on goal against, 13 more than her previous personal record which she set in 2022.
