'Ville women's golf takes finishes as runner-up at Kutztown Invitational

FLEETWOOD, Pa. - The Millersville women's golf team finished as the runner-up of the two-day Kutztown Invitational Monday, beginning a busy stretch of four tournaments in eight days.
The Marauders were one shot behind the eventual winner Alvernia after a first-round 37-over. But Alvernia bested the Marauders by 14 shots in round two. Millersville finished 19 shots clear of third-place West Chester and also finished in front of Kutztown, Bloomsburg and East Stroudsburg.
While the Marauders finished as the team runner-up, Charley Kirby was the individual runner-up. Her 12-over 152 was a career-low for a 36-hole event, and her 4-over 74 on Monday was also a career-low for 18 holes. Kirby's second round included two birdies.
Emma Schotsch started the second round in second place and five shots off the pace. She followed Sunday's 77 with a 79 to finish in fourth at 16-over. Amanda Wolf earned her fourth top-10 finish in as many events by placing 10th with 27-over score. Ashden Stitt was Millersville's No. 4 finisher, placing 24th. Stitt carded an 11-over 81 in the first round and was in eighth, but she slipped down the leaderboard with a 95 on Monday. Bailey Toporcer rounded out Millersville's roster with a 187 in 31st place.

Monday's round is part of a hectic finish to the fall season for the Marauders. The team plays at the Alvernia Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 8, the Husky Fall Invitational on Thursday, Oct. 10, and caps its season at the LVC Invitational on Monday, Oct. 14.
