ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT
- The PSAC Women’s Golf Championship begins this Friday, April 28 and runs through Sunday, April 30. The three round tournament will take place at Berkleigh Golf Club and is hosted by Kutztown University. First groups are scheduled to tee off at 11 a.m. on Friday. Millersville is set to start play at 11:40 a.m. as Charley Kirby will lead off the first of five straight pairing that feature the Marauders, West Chester and Kutztown.
- In total, 12 programs will be competing for the conference championship. Gannon University enters the tournament as the projected favorite after winning each of the past three PSAC Championships. The Knights are led by junior Sarah White, who is the defending individual champion.
ABOUT THE MARAUDERS
- Millersville is coming off a fourth-place finish at the 2022 PSAC Champion. ’Ville carded a team score of +164 and was led by freshman Charley Kirby and sophomore Taylor Hileman who tied for 16th by shooting 41-over-par across the three rounds.
- This spring the Marauders have placed first or second in all five tournaments while earning wins at the Lebanon Valley and Kutztown Invitationals.
- Kirby has improved her play throughout her sophomore campaign as she leads the 2023 Marauders in scoring, averaging 84.3 strokes per-round. Kirby has played in just six rounds this year but has played in every tournament this spring. She is coming off a pair of top five finishes and her lowest score of the semester. Kirby tied for third and shot an 82 (+12) at the Kutztown Invitational before carding an 80 (+8) and tying for fifth at the East Stroudsburg Invitational.
- Fellow sophomore Emma Schotsch is the second lowest scorer for ’Ville as she has averaged 84.6 strokes per-round over 16 rounds. She has scored in the 70’s in six rounds, including three straight rounds to begin her season this fall. Her best finish of the year was on Sept. 5 as she placed second at the Vulcan Invitational while carding a 76 to finish four-over-par.
- Hileman has averaged 85.6 strokes per-round across 16 rounds and will be third in the Marauder lineup. The junior has carded an 80 (+8) on three occasions, including during her second-place finish at the Lebanon Valley Invitational. Earlier this month she earned another second-place finish as she carded an 82 (+10) at the Millersville Invitational.
- Senior Amanda Steier has averaged 88.5 strokes per-round across 16 rounds. She is coming off her best finish of the year as she carded an 82 to finish ten-over-par at the East Stroudsburg Invitational, good for a tie for eighth place. Steier also carded an 82 in the fall at the Gannon Invitational.
- Amanda Wolf rounds out the Marauder lineup and also has a scoring average of 88.5 strokes per-round. The sophomore has competed in all 16 rounds this year. She has carded an 83 on three occasions while shooting a season low 82 (+10) at the Alvernia Invitational to place third overall.
