
Marauders place second at Alvernia Invitational

MOHNTON, PA. – The Millersville women's golf team put together a strong showing at the Alvernia Invitational, placing second out of the eight teams competing in the single day tournament.
'Ville carded a team score of 52-over-par, finishing five strokes behind host Alvernia who won the invitational at 47-over-par. The Marauders finished first out of the four PSAC teams competing, placing ahead of Bloomsburg (+66), West Chester (+71) and Kutztown (+81).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Sophomore Amanda Wolf led the Marauders as she placed third in the individual standings, shooting ten-over-par and carding an 82. The third-place finish was her first top five finish of the year. Wolf put together a solid back nine in which she shot just four-over-par. The Marauders had previously played at Ledgerock Golf Club during the Alvernia Fall Invitational and Wolf carded a 95. She improved her score by 13 strokes from the fall.
Charley Kirby was the next Marauder finisher, tying for sixth, as she shot 12-over-par and carded an 84.
Emma Schotsch finished in a tie for 11th with as 86. She was the lone Marauder to record multiple birdies, doing so on the fifth and 14th holes. Schotsch also improved her score by 13 strokes from the fall invitational.
Amanda Steier finished tied for 14th after carding an 88. She had a strong front nine, shooting just three-over-par to open her round. Steier improved her score by 11 strokes from the fall.
Taylor Hileman rounded out things for 'Ville as she tied for 19th with an 18-over-par.
In total, the Marauders knocked 27 strokes off their team score from the fall invitational.
