KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Millersville women's lacrosse team would fall to the Golden Bears by a score of 19-7 on Saturday afternoon in the PSAC East match-up. Kutztown held the Marauders to four shots in the first quarter, three of which were on goal, and took an 8-2 lead over Millersville after generating a quick 6-0 run. The Golden Bears' defense limited the Marauders to 22 shots compared to their 43 and would force Millersville's offense to 14 turnovers on the day.
The Marauder's leading scorer, Liv Genovese would account for five of Millersville's seven goals, with Hayden Corcoran tallying two. Genovese fired off a team-high of eight shots, seven of which were on goal.
Kutztown improves to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the PSAC East, while Millersville drop to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in conference action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Golden Bears jumped put to a quick 6-0 lead over Millersville in less than 10 minutes of action in the opening quarter. Kutztown would outshoot the Marauders 18-4 first and forced seven Millersville turnovers. Genovese would score both of Millersville's goals and would cut the Marauders deficit to four, but the Golden Bears would tally two additional goals to lead Millersville 8-2 entering the second.
- With a similar start, Kutztown scored three consecutive goals to extend their lead 11-2. The Marauders would score just once in the second quarter after Genovese was rewarded a free position attempt. The Golden Bears would outshoot Millersville 11-8 and scoop up eight ground balls, Kutztown would lead Millersville 12-3 at the half.
- The Golden Bears would maintain their lead in the third after outscoring Millersville 4-1. Kutztown earned three free position attempts which accounted for two of their goals. Genovese would record her fourth goal of the game and Millersville's lone goal in the third from a free position shot. The Marauders' trailed by 12 goals entering the final quarter of regulation.
- Millersville and Kutztown would score three goals each in the fourth quarter, but the Marauders' deficit was too far as they fell to Kutztown by a 12-goal margin. Corcoran and Genovese would score back-to-back goals with 8:48 remaining to trail Kutztown 17-6, but the Golden Bears would answer right back to maintain their lead. Corcoran scored the final goal of the game with 0:49 on the clock, but the Marauders would ultimately fall 19-7 on Saturday afternoon.

- Keeney won five of Millersville's 13 draw controls.
- The Golden Bears went 15-for-15 in clears while Millersville went 16-for-21.
