
Marauders contend, finish third at Bud Elwell Classic

ERIE, Pa. - The Millersville men's golf team finished 14 shots of the lead and took third place in a field of 11 teams at Gannon's 36-hole Bud Elwell Classic.
Millersville finished in front of seven other Atlantic Region competitors and behind only Gannon's two home squads. Home course advantage played out for the Golden Knights, which shot a 588 total to win, and its "B" entry finished 24-over-par.
The Marauders opened with a 302 and closed with a 300 to finish at 26-over. Carl Ernst paced the Marauders, finishing in seventh place after an impressive 1-under 71 in the second round. Ernst's second 18 featured a six-shot improvement, and his 4-over total was eight shots off winner Yadhu Urs of Ohio Dominican. Ty Moral also cracked the top 10, finishing at 6-over-par. His opening round 73 put him in third after 18 holes, and Morral closed with a 5-over 77.
Freshmen Timothy Peters and Jake Speers continued their ultra-consistent rookie seasons, both tying for 17th place. Peters shot 79-75 and Speers posted back-to-back 77's to finish at 10-over-par. Bobby Lugiano tied for 27th and Bo Meakim tied for 36th.
Millersville travels to the Bloomsburg Invitational on Thursday.
