
Lugiano leads Marauders to seventh place in deep field

BELLE VERNON, Pa. - After shooting a career-low score in round, Millersville's Bobby Lugiano went even lower in round two to finish in a tie for sixth at the season-opening Vulcan Invitational at Cedarbrook Golf Course.
Lugiano's 36-hole score of 6-under-par 136 smashed his previous best two-round score by nine shots. He led the Marauders to a seventh-place team finish in a field of 18 teams. Scores were low on the course as Millersville shot an even-par 568 for the tournament while the winner, Gannon, posted two rounds under par and shot a 23-under 545. Millersville finished just five shots out of third place and two shots out of fourth.
Lugiano opened his tournament with a 2-under 69 in round one, and closed with a 4-under 67 on Monday. That score was two shots off the best round of the day, fired by Davis & Elkins' Jack Coleman. Gannon's Abe Holmes and Ryan Ferry tied for first at 10-under.
Ty Morral gave the Marauders to golfers under par, as he shot a career-best 69 in round two after posting a 71 in round one. He finished in 21st for his second career top-25 finish. Christopher Knox shot rounds of 71 and 72 for a career-low 36-hole score. He finished in a tie for 36th. Noah Keener rounded out the scoring for the Marauders, posting a 7-over-par score for the tournament, which placed him in a tie for 75th.
Millersville returns to the course on Sept. 16-17 at the Mercyhurst Invitational. The long weekend extends to Sept. 18-19 as the Marauders then play in Gannon's tournament.
