Millersville women's tennis opens season at Bloomsburg Invitational

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Millersville women's tennis team started its season at the Bloomsburg Invitational where Chloe Abramowitz reached the flight four first-place match before rain ended the event prematurely.
Abramowitz went 2-0 to reach the final of her flight, defeating Bloomsburg's Alyssa Mazurek (4-0, 1-4, 10-3) and Marie Discini of Saint Francis (4-2, 4-2). Sophie Lanius and Sara McComas both went 1-1 flight five, and Hui Jen Soo bounced back after a first round loss in flight three to go 1-1 as did Maria Ojeda in flight two.
In doubles, Millersville's No. 1 team of Noelle Htwar and Ojeda lost 8-5 to Saint Francis' top team in the first round but won 8-0 against Lock Haven's team to advance to the fifth-place match. Soo and Abramowitz went 1-1 to reach the fifth-place match in flight two. McComas and Lanius went 2-0 and were the last team standing in the four-team flight three bracket.
Among the teams competing at the event were Lock Haven, Bloomsburg, Saint Francis, Davis & Elkins and Mercy.
The Marauders return to Bloomsburg on Sept. 16 for the three-day ITA Regional.
