ALLENDALE, Mich. – Aliyah Striver wrapped up her impressive Millersville career on Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor Championships by earning All-American second team honors in the shot put, her second All-American award of the weekend. The Millersville senior finished 12
th in the women's shot put, hitting a 46-10 mark on her third throw of the day after fouling on her first two throws.
"Yeah, I'm glad she at least got a decent mark and ended up getting second team," said coach
Brittany Hartman. "She had great warmups and popped out that 15m throw that unfortunately avoided her during competition. It was just good to get her back to a place of feeling comfortable with the shot after struggling last year and most of the indoor season"
Stiver ends her time as a Marauder with multiple NCAA All-American honors, All-PSAC honors, and USTCCCA Indoor and Outdoor All-Atlantic Region honors. She was also named the PSAC Indoor Championships Field Athlete of the Meet during her 2020 snd 2022 campaigns.
"Striver, as two PSAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Year and three-time NCAA qualifier, while earning two All-American and one second team All-American awards has to be considered one of the greatest athletes that Millersville has produced despite sometimes living in the shadow of
Sunflower Greene and
Hannah Woelfling," said head coach
Andy Young.
Hannah Woelfling wrapped up competition at the event on Friday in the discus. The Sophomore came into the event as the second seed but fouled on all three of her throws in the preliminary round and was not able to place.
"She was actually throwing far enough to probably win but the toe of her block leg kept sliding just over the front of the circle," said Hartman. "That's the way it goes in the throws sometimes though unfortunately. It was a hard one. She was upset but not as much as (after the hammer) because she threw great-just couldn't get a fair call."
Despite Woelfling's finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championship, she managed to lead Millersville to their first PSAC Outdoor Championship since 1996 while winning the championship MVP award.
