
Millersville's Martinez-Lucas wins third PSAC Athlete of the Week award

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - For the third time in 2022, Millersville University's Carlos Martinez-Lucas has been named the PSAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week.
Martinez-Lucas helped Millersville to a 2-1 record with a win over PSAC rival Kutztown during the week, and he accounted for five victories, going 2-1 at No. 1 singles and 3-0 at No. 1 doubles.
Now 13-7 in singles on the season, Martinez-Lucas scored a pair of straight-set victories over his opponents from Salem and Kutztown, and his lone loss came in a match tiebreaker. In doubles, Martinez-Lucas and Frank Yanni paired for wins over the top teams from Salem, Kutztown, and Jefferson, running their record to an impressive 17-3.
During the week, Martinez-Lucas moved up to 14th on Millersville's career wins list with 44, and he and Yanni cracked the top five in career doubles wins, improving to 27-5 over the last two seasons.
As the top player in Millersville's lineup, Martinez-Lucas has helped the Marauders to a 6-6 overall record and a 2-2 mark in PSAC play. The Marauders play two key PSAC duals this week against West Chester (April 7) and Shepherd (April 10).
