Men's golf places fifth at Crofton Invitational

Crofton, Md. – The Millersville men's golf team finished in fifth place out of the ten teams competing in the Crofton Invitational this week. This is the Marauders' best finish this year, topping their two seventh-place finishes in the fall semester. Mercyhurst finished in the lead, while Le Moyne followed in second and California (Pa.) rounded out the top three.

Millersville now has three invites left this spring, the West Chester Invitational (Apr. 4-5), Le Moyne Invitational (Apr. 10-11), and the IUP Invitational (Apr. 18-19) to close out the schedule.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Marauders finished day one in third place, shooting a 312 collectively. Bobby Lugiano led 'Ville after day one and was tied for sixth out of all participants with a 76, while Christopher Knox and Noah Keener both cracked the top-10 with a 78.
Millersville finished day two with a 315, three strokes behind the group's day one score, leaving the team with a 627 overall score. Lugiano however was able to improve his personal score on day two, shooting a 74 to place fifth out of 66 players.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

The Marauders finished 25 strokes behind invite champion Mercyhurst and four strokes back from Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) foe, West Chester.
Lugiano led 'Ville with a 150 and 5^thplace finish, while three other Marauders finished close to each other, as Keener scored a 158, Knox a 159, and Ty Morral shot a 160 through two days. Joseph Madden recorded a 163 and Drew VonStein shot a 176 to round out Marauder scores at Crofton.
'Ville finished 51-over 576 in the invite.
