MILLESVILLE, Pa. - An historic season on the diamond has landed Millersville University's Faith Willenbrock a spot on both the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and the D2CCA All-Atlantic Region First Team.
As a first team member, Willenbrock was recognized as the top catcher in the region. The NFCA teams are nominated and voted on by coaches from the region. The D2CCA teams are nominated and voted on by the region's sports information directors. The Atlantic Region includes teams from the PSAC, CIAA and Mountain East conferences.
Willenbrock is now a two-time NFCA All-Atlantic Region First Team honoree, having also earned a spot on the team as a freshman in 2018. She joins Millersville Athletics Hall of Fame members Stacey Hollinger (1986-1987) and Janelle Mrakovitch (2008-2009) as the only two-time first team selections in program history. This is the third time for Willenbrock being recognized as all-region by the D2CCA. She was a second team selection in both 2018 and 2019, and she is now the first Marauder named all-region three times.
In 2021, Willenbrock led the PSAC and ranked second nationally with 21 home runs (0.53 per game), a total that set a Millersville single-season record. Willenbrock ranked second among all PSAC hitters in average (.460) and slugging percentage (1.056), and is one of just three players in PSAC history with a slugging percentage over 1.000 in a season. She ranked second nationally in slugging percentage. Willenbrock also ranked fourth in the PSAC on base percentage (.518), fifth in hits (58) and RBIs (46) and 10th in runs scored (40).
Over her career, which spanned just 138 games because of pandemic shortened seasons, Willenbrock set Millersville records with 48 home runs, 139 RBIs and a .404 average. She is tied for fifth in home runs in PSAC history.
