ABOUT THE GAMES

  • Both Millersville (No. 3) and Bloomsburg (No. 10) are ranked in this week’s NCBWA Atlantic Region Poll.
  • Entering the weekend, Millersville is in first place in the PSAC East Standings with a conference record of 13-6. Bloomsburg (12-8) is third in those standings.
  • The last time the two teams met was in the 2019 NCAA Atlantic Regional, where Bloomsburg earned a 2-1 victory to knock Millersville down into the loser's bracket. The Marauders also lost to the Huskies 7-1 in the 2019 PSAC Tournament but won the regular season series between the teams that year 3-1.
  • As a team, Millersville's batting average (.323) is ranked third in the PSAC behind Slippery Rock (.354) and West Chester (.334), although both those teams have played seven fewer games than the Marauders.
  • Sophomore Bren Taylor is tied for the third-most amount of hits in the PSAC with 35, just three behind league leader Ethan Martini from Kutztown. Luke Trainer's 28 RBIs is tied for the fourth-most in the conference.
  • Millersville starter Jeff Taylor's 3.41 ERA is eighth-lowest in the PSAC, while Bloomsburg's Nick Stoner has held opposing batters to a .210 average (also eighth-best in the conference.) Millersville's Paul Wilson returned to the mound last weekend to pick up a victory after 5.1 innings of work, while freshman Conor Cook last pitched on April 13 (a complete game shutout.) All three Ville starters should see work in this weekend's series.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

  • Bloomsburg's offense is spearheaded by Kyle OFier (.415, 27 RBIs, six home runs, seven doubles) and Carter Chasanov (.400, 21 runs scored, four home runs, four doubles.)
  • Michael Standen (2.60) is the only Huskies starting pitcher with an ERA under 5.80. He has thrown 17 and one-third innings and struck out 23 batters in 2021.
  • Bloomsburg is 7-2 in its last nine games, including series wins over PSAC foes Mansfield and East Stroudsburg.
Ever since the Shepherd series, the bullpen has stepped up in a big way. They've been much better and have thrown strikes. We're playing more games and getting reps, so things are starting to click for some guys out there on the mound.
