Millersville claims third at Spadafora IUP Invitational

INDIANA, Pa. – The Millersville men's golf team shot a two-round score of 602 (+34) to claim third place at the Spadafora IUP Invitational hosted by Indiana (Pa.).
The Marauders came in ahead of PSAC rivals West Chester, California (Pa.), Clarion, Mercyhurst, and Pitt-Johnstown. Shepherd claimed the first place slot shooting a 36-hole score of 593 (+25). The Rams' Owen Elliott claimed first shooting two-under in the second round to finish even to par (142).
Bobby Lugiano led the Marauders coming in fifth place, his second top-10 performance of the season. Lugiano shot a new 36-hole score in the tournament coming in two-over (73) on day one and three-over (74) on day two for a total of 147 (+5). This marks the highest finish for the freshman all season.
Brady Erb followed closely behind on the leaderboard moving up 19 spots from day one to tie for sixth with a two-round total of 148 (+6), a new 36-hole low for the graduate student. Erb improved on his first round total (77) by six strokes (71) on day two to tie his lowest career 18-hole score. This marks the fourth top-10 finish for Erb and seventh of his career.
Christopher Knox slid into the top 25 with a new 36-hole low of 152 (+10). Knox tied for 14th overall and shot 73-79. This is the second top-25 finish for the junior and fourth of his career. His round one score was just one stroke shy of tying his lowest 18-hole total (72).
Ronnie Yanoski tied for 30th with a two-day total of 160 (+18). Yanoski shot just three-over (74) on day one but came up short on day two shooting 82 (+11).
Bailey Neveker shot 79 in round one followed by 81 in round two to tie for 36th place in the 52-person field. Neveker came just two strokes shy of tying his lowest 36-hole score shooting a two-round total of 160 (+18).
Carl Ernst returned to the course for the Marauders as an individual. He improved his first-day score by a single stroke and shot 82-81. His 36-hole total of 163 (+21) landed him tied for 41st.
The invitational marked the last regular-season tournament for the Marauders this year. Currently, Millersville is ranked ninth in the NCAA Men's Golf Division II Regional Ranking. The NCAA Atlantic Regional is set to take place Monday, May 3 through Wednesday, May 5 at the Lake View Country Club in Erie, Pennsylvania.
