INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The initial NCAA field hockey regional rankings were released Wednesday afternoon, and Millersville was ranked No. 3 in the Atlantic Region. 

The regional rankings determine the field for the NCAA Tournament at the conclusion of the conference tournaments. The rankings will be released each Wednesday from Oct. 20 until the official NCAA Selection Show on Monday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m.

Millersville, now 12-2, held an 11-2 record at the time of the ranking. Both losses came on the road against Shippensburg, ranked No. 1, and West Chester, ranked No. 2. Millersville plays No. 4 East Stroudsburg at home on Oct. 27. In the East Region, Assumption (13-1) is ranked No. 1 followed by St. Anselm (11-3) and Bentley (9-4). 

The top three teams from each region in the final ranking advance to the NCAA Tournament. The No. 2 and No. 3 teams play a quarterfinal game on a campus site. This year's NCAA Semifinal and NCAA Championship will be played at Millersville's Biemesderfer Stadium on Nov. 19 and 21.
