Striver, Martin score first-place finishes at Fastrack National

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Aliyah Striver won the shot put with a personal-best mark, and Madison Martin won the weight throw to lead Millersville's performances at Friday's Fastrack National Invitational.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
• Striver's 47-3 3/4 was more than eight inches further than her previous best and more than three feet better than any other mark in the PSAC this season. Striver's mark out-distanced Princeton's Julia Harisay, who hit 44-9 3/4. Martin also posted a PR and finished fifth with a toss of 40-10 1/4.
• Martin led three Marauders in the top six of the weight throw. Martin won with a toss of 56-0. Striver's 51-11 1/4 was good for fourth, and Stephanie Garner beat her PR by a 1/4 inch, hitting 50-3 1/2 for sixth place.
• Yoangelys Rijo-Cedeno knocked more than two seconds off of her previous best in the 800-meter run with a PSAC qualifying time of 2:22.73. She placed 12th in Friday's run.
• Destinee Holloman ran an indoor PR of 25.92 and placed 10th in the 200-meter dash. Emonie Reviere ran a 26.26 and placed 14th.
• Jillian Miller placed 15th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.01, missing a PSAC qualifying time by fewer than four seconds. Gabriela Karch placed 13th out of 66 runners in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.83. Freshman Aurora Conrad took 15th with a PR time of 26.92. Kaitlin Moyer ran in both the 60-meter hurdles (10.06) and then 60-meter dash (8.54), taking eighth and 10th in the respective events. Abbey Sullivan shaved 10 seconds off her previous best in the mile, posting a 5:29.28.

• On the number of PR's at the meet: "The team has been working consistently hard for the past month. As they get better, they also gain confidence. That helps a lot in their performance."
• On the plan to prepare for the PSAC: "Our focus over the next week is to try and get a few more people qualified. We also hope to figure out relay spots. Finally, we also want to keep our athletes happy, healthy and ready to compete."
