DANIELS, W. Va. – The Millersville men's golf team moved up the leaderboard on the final day to claim third place at the Glade Springs Intercollegiate Championship hosted by the University of Charleston. The Marauders played the first two rounds on the Woodhaven course followed by the final round on the Stonehaven course.
The men posted scores of 308-301-300 for a three-round total of 909, a mere four strokes behind host Charleston in second. Gannon University came up with the win with a team total of 902. Senior Matt Spak shot two-over 218 to tie for a second-place finish in the 92-person field. Mercyhurst's Ryan Peters took the first place title after winning the playoff for first against Spak.
TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS
• Matt Spak shot a season-low 70 in the second round erasing five shots from his round one 75. Spak added a 73 in round three for a tournament total of 218.
• Brady Erb jumped up 22 spots on the leaderboard erasing eight shots from his round two performance to tie for 11th. Erb shot 75-79-71 for a tournament total of 225.
• Ronnie Yanoski saw improvement in rounds two and three shooting a consistent 76. Yanoski bumped up 14 spots tying for 32nd with a 232.

ASSISTANT COACH BRIAN RENTZ QUOTES
• "The weekend was led by senior Matt Spak. With a three-day total of 218 (+2) Matt found himself in a playoff for the individual first-place championship. After a few misplaced tee shots, Matt demonstrated the amount of grit and determination he has getting up and down from difficult positions on the first two playoff holes to force halves. Unfortunately, his opponent made a long birdie putt on the third playoff hole to end things while Matt prepared to putt for par. Matt's performance this weekend was extremely impressive."
• "After grinding his way through 36 holes at the difficult Woodhaven course, Brady Erb came out firing this morning on the Stonehaven course. He put the ball in good spots all day and was able to get some momentum going through the round. I think this was the low round Brady needed as we near the PSAC Championship in a few short weeks."
• "Ronnie Yanoski had a lot of really great moments throughout his three rounds this weekend. He demonstrated a high level of mental toughness when faced with adversity. I was most impressed with the way he finished today. After a deflating 43 (+8) on the front nine he left his missteps behind him and fired a -3 bogey free 33 on the back nine to finish with a solid 76. If I had to describe Ronnie's game in one word it would be patience."
NOTES
• Spak tied his career-low 70 last set at the Alvernia Invitational in Oct. 2018. The 218 marks a new career-best 54-hole score for the senior. He previously recorded a 234 at the PSAC Championships last October.
• Erb set a new career-low 18-hole score with his 71 in the third round. The 11th-place finish marks Erb's 10th top 25 career finishes. He bested his 54-hole low by 10 shots last recording a 235 at the Glad Springs Intercollegiate in 2018.
