WHAT HEAD COACH SCOTT VANDEGRIFT HAS TO SAY
• "I am glad that our team played well in the last few weeks of the season for a chance to go to the regionals and keep our spring going. It is a privilege to get to regionals. We played a tremendous golf course, championship material. As a team, the play over the past few weeks did not carry over. It was unfortunate for us because the weather was good, the golf course was in tremendous condition. The rains that came in did not affect us at all.
• "I am fortunate that three of the five who played in the regional will be back next year. I do not really think there will be any ill effects for us -- concerning them in the future. I am very optimistic, we have a nice group going into the next year. We have a lot of new talent so I am looking forward to fall of next year."
• "In each of [Brady Erb]'s rounds, each day could have been much better. He knows that. I think another year of competition will help him to be determined. This event was a great experience for him. He can see his game is equal to these players on top of this leaderboard. He was not intimidated towards this field."
• "I do not expect us to be a weak team next year, hopefully even stronger. With leadership of three upperclassman, we have a couple of other players who have grown this year. Plus, the young talent that is coming in is not looking to sit and wait, they want to earn a starting job. I think the combination will be very incising with a lot of returners and young talent."
NOTES
• Erb carded a team-high six birdies in the tournament. Erb also tied for fourth in the entire field in par-5 scoring with an average of 4.75.
• Southern New Hampshire won the super regional. With a top-three finish, Bentley, Wilmington (Del), and the Penmen advance to the NCAA Championships on May 20-24. Southern New Hampshire's Matt Paradis won the individual medalist with a three-day total of 5-under 211 which included a 5-under 67 in the opening round.
