WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Hannah Yanoski finished in 10th place after shooting rounds of 86 and 88 in the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational Monday and Tuesday. With the help of Yanoski's top-10 outing, the Marauders placed fifth in the eight team field.
The Marauders concluded the tournament with a 751 score after holding down the fourth-place spot after the first round. Millersville struggled in the second round, dropping 13 strokes from day one's total. West Chester claimed the team title and the individual title with Juliarose Genuardi shooting a final round 3-over 74.
TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS
• Yanoski finished the first round tied for eighth place after carding an 86. Despite experiencing adversity during the second round, Yanoski still gutted out an 88 to earn the eighth top 10 of her career.
• Alexandra Craig's two rounds were an inverse of Yanoski's. Craig struggled during the first round, shooting a 99. However, she charged back in the final round, finishing with a 93. Craig's improvement in the second round earned her a tie for 28th.
• Cassandra Vogel opened her first appearance in this tournament with a 99. Vogel shot a 100 in the final round, earning lone 34th place.
• Hailea Yocum's tournament mirrored Craig's rounds. After shooting a 107 in the first round, Yocum improved by six shots and shot an 101. Yocum's improvement on day two moved her up the leaderboard three spots and finished in a tie for 41st.
• Joelie Bennett led the team in a tie for fifth after coming into the clubhouse with an opening 85 but was unable to finish her second round.
HEAD COACH SCOTT VANDEGRIFT QUOTES
• "They did not play as well as I expected them to. Our low was Hannah for two day total of 174. Our freshmen were able to break 100 both days. That is what I expected them to do this week."
• "It is nice for Hannah to get a top-10 finish but it is something, as her coach, I am not surprised by. I am actually surprised that she is not finishing higher. I think her best golf is right there in front of her. She is just making minor mistakes and is one of the best ball-strikers in the conference."
• "No one ever got it going today. In the first few holes we were not our best. No one was playing that great but no one shut down and we kept on going."
NOTES
• Yocum's 101 was her lowest 18-hole score so far this season.
• This was the Marauders' best finish at the event since the 2014-15 season when the squad finished runner-up.
UP NEXT
• The Marauders look ahead to their final regular season tournament at the East Stroudsburg Invitational on April 13-14. The tournament will be at Glenn Brook Country Club.
