| By:
Box Score Amherst, N.Y. - Singles play featured four three-set matches and two tiebreakers, but the Millersville University men's tennis team won all of them on its way to a 7-0 sweep of Daemen on Friday night.

The Marauders improve to 2-9, while the Wildcats fall to 1-10.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
Frank Yanni clinched the Millersville victory with a comeback win at flight three singles. After losing the first set on a 7-3 tiebreaker, Yanni took the second set, 6-3, and then took the final set, 10-6.
Peter Landis and Jose Alcazar also had comeback victories in their singles matches. After dropping the first set, 6-1, at flight two, Landis won a 7-3 tiebreaker in the second set and then squeaked out an 11-9 win in the third set. Alcazar also dropped his first set, 6-1, at flight five, but then took the second set, 6-1, and clinched the victory with an 11-9 decision in the final set.
Rodrigo Lorencin's flight six singles win was the final three-set singles match. Lorencin won the first set, 6-4, but then dropped the second set, 6-4, before taking the final set, 10-4.
• Although it didn't go three sets, Carlos Martinez-Lucas won a tight flight one singles match. Martinez-Lucas took the first set, 6-3, and then won a closely-contested second set, 7-5.
Ben Fellman had the most uneventful singles victory of the match, cruising to a 6-4, 6-3 win at flight four.
• The Marauders won the doubles point thanks to the duo of Martinez-Lucas and Landis who won at flight one, 6-3, and Yanni and Lorencin who were victorious at flight three, 6-4.

COACH HELSEL QUOTES
• "I couldn't be happier for our guys. Walking off the court around midnight, after a six hour bus ride, and to put together a superior effort like that against an opponent that creamed us last year is beyond encouraging."
• "We've come up short in several close matches this season, so it was extra special to put it all together by winning two close doubles matches and all six singles matches, including four in match superbreakers. I'm very proud of our resilience. This program has been to the lowest point and the climb out has been difficult, but these guys embrace the challenge. I couldn't ask for more."
• "As much as I could say about the efforts of our top four players, I'm especially impressed with Jose Alcazar and Rodrigo Lorencin. They've been playing hard day after day. Instead of folding, they fought back and both won close matches."
• "The guys have been really focused on doubles and it was evident in the match. We've struggled on courts two and three, but in this match we got outstanding results."

NOTES
• This marks Millersville's first sweep of the season, its first since its 9-0 win over Elizabethtown College last season, and its first road win of the season.
• This also marks the Marauders' first win against the Wildcats in program history. Daemen had won the previous three matches, including an 8-1 win last season.
Carlos Martinez-Lucas is now 7-2 in singles play during the spring season.

UP NEXT
• Millersville will be back in action when it travels to Edinboro on Saturday, March 23 for a 1 p.m. match.
