Women’s swimming concludes second day at PSACs

York, Pa. – The Millersville University women's swimming team finished the second day of competition with junior Madisson Cartmill 0.57 away from punching her ticket into the 400-yard individual medley finals. No Marauders reached the finals on day two.
Cartmill swam a time of 4:52.84, putting her in 25th place in the prelims. Clarion's Raena Valli touched the wall just .57 ahead of Cartmill which earned her the last spot in the finals.
Three Marauders participated in the 100-yard butterfly prelims. Junior Judith Miller was a second shy of qualifying for the finals, recording a 1:01.52 and placing 30th. Four hundredths of a second away from her teammate, freshman Maddie Stoner came in with a time of 1:01.56, a place behind Miller. With a 1:04.88 in the prelims, freshman Alexis Bowen finished in 40th.
In the evening session, the Marauders swam in two relay events, finishing in 12th place in both. The team posted a time of 1:42.54 in the 200-yard freestyle relay with the group of Stoner, Miller, sophomore Alexis Shollenberger and senior Amanda Wetzler. In the last event of the day, the 400-yard medley relay, the squad including Cartmill, Stoner, Wetzler and junior Eryn Bartlett swam a season-best time of 4:07.63.
NOTES
• Stoner's 1:01.56 in the 100-yard butterfly was a career best time.
• In the same event, Bowen earned a new career best with a time of 1:04.88.
UP NEXT
• The Marauders kick off day three with the 500-yard freestyle at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 22. The 500 free is followed by 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard butterfly prelims. The finals is schedule for 6 p.m. for those events.
