
Lowman hits the podium in day two of the PSAC Championships

York, Pa. - The Millersville University women's swimming team earned its second podium finish on day two of the PSAC Championships, highlighted by a strong individual performance and a relay team effort from last night. Abigail Lowman delivered a personal-best swim in the 400-yard individual medley A-Final, placing sixth overall to secure a podium spot for the Marauders. The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Claire Weaver, Izabella Wreski, Hannah Baumgardner, and Anna Sassaman also reached the podium off last night's performance to finish eighth overall.
The Marauders opened the morning session with five swimmers competing in the 400-yard IM preliminaries. Leah Eckert posted a season-best 4:52.08, with Izabella Wreski close behind at 4:52.57. Anna Burrowes recorded a personal-best 4:55.77, followed by Violet Pizzillo at 4:56.31. Kate Pelagatti rounded out the group with a 5:07.70. Abigail Lowman secured a spot in the A-Final with a qualifying time of 4:37.05.
In the evening finals, Lowman delivered a personal-best 4:35.19 to place sixth overall, earning the Marauders' first individual podium finish of the meet. Her time now ranks as the second-fastest in program history, moving her up the all-time top-10 list.
In the 200-yard freestyle preliminaries, Hannah Baumgardner swam a season-best 1:59.38, just ahead of Claire Weaver's 1:59.80. Anna Sassaman touched in 2:01.06, and Jane McClelland followed at 2:01.53. No Marauders advanced to the finals in the event.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Weaver, Wreski, Pizzillo, and Eckert narrowly missed the podium, finishing ninth with a time of 1:40.86. Weaver led off with a personal-best 25.52. In the 400-yard medley relay, the team of Lowman, Eckert, Pizzillo, and Sassaman placed 10th, highlighted by a personal-best 28.69 split from Baumgardner during her leg of the race.
The squad continues tomorrow for day three at the PSAC Championships.
