Marauders close season with podium finish and strong finals performances at PSAC Championships

YORK, Pa. – The Millersville University women's swimming team closed out its 2025–26 season Saturday at the PSAC Championships. Hannah Baumgardner secured the lone podium spot on the day for the Marauders with an eighth-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 17:48.85.
The morning preliminaries began with Anna Sassaman clocking a 53.91 in the 100-yard freestyle to qualify for the C-Final. She improved her time in the evening session, swimming a 53.89 to place third in the C-Final and 19th overall.
In the 200-yard backstroke, all three Marauders qualified for the evening finals. Abigail Lowman posted a 2:08.57 in prelims before dropping to a 2:06.42 in the B-Final, finishing second in the heat and 10th overall. Claire Weaver (2:12.17) and Madison Taylor (2:12.27) advanced to the C-Final, where Weaver claimed first in the heat with a 2:10.85 for 17th overall. Taylor finished 24th with a 2:13.90.
The 200-yard breaststroke saw two of six Marauders advance to finals. Leah Eckert qualified for the B-Final with a 2:26.70 and went on to finish third in the heat with a 2:24.66, placing 11th overall. Izabella Wreski swam a 2:30.64 in prelims to earn a C-Final berth and improved to 2:27.46 in finals, taking second in the heat and 18th overall. Violet Pizzillo (2:34.59), Anna Burrowes (2:37.36), Kate Pelagatti (2:38.87), and Kiersten Zecchin (2:41.27) competed in prelims but did not advance.
In the 1650-yard freestyle, Baumgardner's eighth-place finish led the way. Jane McClelland placed 16th with a time of 18:17.75, followed closely by Taylor in 18th at 18:28.51.
The championship concluded with the 4x400-yard freestyle relay team of Lowman, Baumgardner, Weaver, and Sassaman placing 10th in 3:38.62.
Millersville totaled 438 points to finish ninth overall at the PSAC Championships. The Marauders wrapped up the season with a .500 record in dual meets, earning wins over Kutztown, Lock Haven, Arcadia, and California (Pa.).
