ABOUT THE MARAUDERS
• The Millersville University women's swimming team looks to improve upon last season's 10th place finish at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Swimming Championships. The Marauders will send eight total swimmers to this year's event. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. for all morning sessions and then close until the finals at 4:30 p.m.
• Senior Amanda Wetzler, senior Amira Washington, junior Eryn Barrett, sophomore Alexis Shollenberger, freshman Alexis Bowen, junior Madisson Cartmill, freshman Maddie Stoner and junior Judith Miller are the swimmers who qualified for the championships.
• The Marauders bring a mix of veterans and newcomers to the postseason with five upperclassmen and three underclassmen.
• Five Marauders are set to compete in the 50-yard freestyle and four will be in the 100-yard backstroke. Three swimmers will be competing in the 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard freestyle.
• Wetzler's 25.15 in the 50 free seeded her in 31st. The Marauders are experienced in the 100 back, Wetzler sits in the highest spot in seedings at 18th with a 1:00.00. Following Wetzler, Cartmill sits in 20th with a 1:00.46 time. In the 200-yard backstroke, Shollenberger ranked 22nd with a 2:12.61 time.
• On Wednesday, Bowen will swim in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Stoner, Cartmill and Bartlett will swim in the 200-yard individual medley. Stoner led the team in the 200 individual medley time this season (2:21.77).
• Wetzler, Shollenberger, Stoner, Miller and Washington will swim In the 50-yard freestyle. Weztler sits at the top with the team's fastest time (25.15).
• Starting off Thursday's events in the 400-yard individual medley, Cartmill led the team throughout the season with the fastest time (4:48.99). Miller, Stoner and Bowen will also compete in the 100 fly. Miller leads the team in that event with a 1:01.48 time.
• The weekend begins with four Marauders swimming in the 100-yard backstroke. Those four include Wetzler, Cartmill, Shollenberger and Washington. The group is led by Wetzler with a time of 1:00.00. Following that event, Bartlett will be the lone Marauder in the 100-yard breaststroke. Bartlett qualified with a time of 1:12.38.
• Starting off the final day of competition, Stoner, Washington and Wetzler will swim in the 100-yard freestyle. Stoner holds the top time on the team with a 57.62.
LAST YEAR'S PSAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
• Madisson Cartmill hit the wall at a time of 2:06.24 in her preliminary 200 backstroke race, earning a spot in the finals. In the finals, Cartmill placed 14th.
• Alexis Shollenberger broke her career best in the 200-yard backstroke prelims (2:11.33)--the fourth-fastest time in program history. Shollenberger was 0.01 slower than her prelim time in the finals with a time of 2:11.34.
• The Marauders concluded the championships in 10th place with 300.5 points.
• Wetzler finished 24th in the 50 free. Wetzler's prelims time of 24.81 now ranks fifth in program history. The time was a new career-best while also toppling her season-best time of 25.88 by over a second.
QUALIFYING JOURNEY OF EIGHT MARAUDERS
• Miller secured a spot at this year's conference championships with a 25.81 time in the 50-yard freestyle at the ESU Invitational.
• With their last chance to qualify for this event at the NYU Invitational, Washington and Bartlett punched their tickets to PSACs with a 25.89 by Washington in the 50 free and a 2:36.07 by Barlett in the 200 breast.
• Washington is competing in her fourth PSAC Championships while Cartmill and Miller are making their third appearances. Bowen and Stoner are making their PSAC Championships debuts this week.
