
Cartmill competes in 200 back final on the fourth day of the PSAC Championships

York, Pa. – Junior Madisson Cartmill shattered her previous season-best while qualifying her for the "B" final in the 200-yard backstroke, leading the way for Millersville University women's swimming team on the final day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships. The Marauders concluded the conference championships in 12th with 164 points.
Cartmill, who entered the meet with a previous top time of 2:12.70 in the 200 back, lowered that mark all the way down to 2:08.37 in the preliminaries, advancing to the evening session as the No. 13 qualifier. Cartmill rounded out her third conference championships with a 2:10.52, capturing 16th place. Also in that preliminary swim was sophomore Alexis Shollenberger who finished 26th with a 2:13.51 time.
Leading the squad in the 100-yard freestyle, Amanda Wetzler cut four seconds off her season-best by recording a 55.95 in the prelims which finished her in 44th. Both Maddie Stoner and Amira Washington reduced their season-best times by one second. Stoner recorded a 56.95 while Washington touched the wall at 57.98.
As the lone Marauder to compete in the 200-yard breaststroke, Eryn Bartlett finished in 30th in the prelims with a time of 2:39.56. Alexis Bowen swam the morning session for the Marauders in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a 19:20.46, ending up in 20th place.
The final event that the Marauders swam in was the 400-yard freestyle relay where they recorded a new season-best 3:46.53. The squad included Stoner, Cartmill, Shollenberger and Wetzler.
NOTES
• Cartmill earned her third-straight appearance in a final event. Her best finish of the week was in the 100-yard backstroke where she placed in 11th.
• The Marauders concluded their season and graduate three seniors in Wetzler, Washington and Gabriella Licata.
