BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Millersville University women's cross country team heads to Bloomsburg, Pa., for Friday's PSAC Championship meet. With 10 runners on the roster having competed in at least one previous championship meet, the Marauders are looking to improve upon last season's 13th-place finish.
The 6K women's race is set for 10 a.m., gun. Millersville, as well as seven other PSAC teams, ran on the very same course just two weeks ago. The Marauders finished sixth in that field with Yoangelys Rijo-Cedeno placing 14th. The Marauders will send 12 runners to the championship with the top five finishers counting toward the team score.
Millersville's 13th-place finish in 2018 was its best since 2013. The Marauders are also looking for their first All-PSAC performer (top-30 finisher) since 2016. Rijo-Cedeno is the best candidate as she has been Millersville's top finisher in all four of her races. She also has plenty of experience in the event with this being her third PSAC Championship race.
Also making their third PSAC Championship appearance are Elizabeth Rudderow and Victoria Ranck. Rudderow has finished third among Millersville's runners twice in four events and ran a 25:17.2 at Bloomsburg two weeks ago. Ranck was Millersville No. 5 finisher at the Bloomsburg Invitational. Senior Emily Bland has been among Millersville's top five runners in each of her four races. Sophomore Natalie Poulton has emerged as the Marauders' No. 2 runner. She ran a 24:59.0 and finished in 25th at the Bloomsburg Invitational. Freshman Kait Liester has cracked Millersville's top five twice as well, including a 44th-place finisher with a 26:05.8 at the Bloomsburg Invitational.
Rijo-Cedeno was Millersville's top finisher at the 2018 PSAC Championship, finishing 38th. Poulton was second among the Marauders in 65th. Rudderow ran third with a 79th-place finish, and Bland was fourth, finishing 83rd.
Shippensburg and Edinboro have won every PSAC Championship since since 2014. Millersville's best-ever finish came in 1989, 1992 and 1994 as the runner-up.
