LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Freshman Kira Chebishev ran the ninth fastest 6K in program history, and junior Bri Pollock crossed the finish line 0.6 seconds later, leading the Millersville women's cross country to an 11th-place finish in a field of 23 teams at Saturday's NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships.
Chebishev ran a career-best 22:23 to finish 29th, and Pollock took 32nd with a 22:23.6. Pollock was just four seconds off her PR.
"We were happy to see Kira and Bri give us a strong one-two again," said Millersville head coach Amdy Young.
Davis & Elkins took the team championship, followed by East Stroudsburg. Glenville State's Natalie Barr took first in 21:22, and Gannon's Emily Bowers finished a half-second later in an exciting finish.
Millersville ran well in pairs, with Emilea Alleman placing 60th with a time of 22:56.2, and Olivia Sunderland taking 65th in 23:01. Bella Ruefle provided Millersville's fifth scorer with a PR time of 23:28.
"We ran a bit better as a team today than at PSACs," said Young. "It was a solid race and season for the team. Emilea and Liv ran stronger than at the PSAC Championship, which was good to see. Bella had a really good race to be our final scorer. We will miss our seniors next year, but we are excited to get track season going."
The regional completed Millersville's season.
