GETTYSBURG, Pa. - With the PSAC Championship just six days away, Millersville women's cross country gave its usual front-of-the-pack runners a day off and used Saturday's Gettysburg Invitational to determine its lineup for the conference meet. Led by Jillian Miller, the Marauders finished 11th in the 26-team field.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
• Miller ran her second-fastest time of the season at 25:39.3 to finish in 65th out of 259 runners. Freshman Abbey Sullivan, competing in her first career 6K event, ran second for the Marauders, placing 91st with a time of 26:01.8. Alexa Happ ran a 26:26.1 for 107th. Skylar Maurer posted a 26:42.1 for 112th. Brianna Brennan (27:27.8) and Gemma Pasewicz (27:45.9) rounded out the top six in 139th and 145th respectively.
THOUGHTS FROM COACH ANDY YOUNG
• "With the PSAC's being a day earlier on Friday, I thought it would be a quick turnaround for racing. We were trying to figure out who are top 12 were for PSAC's. That was the objective--to establish the top 12. We knew our top six for sure. We had a number of runners like Abbey, Skylar and Bri Landis hadn't raced since the Alumni Run. so we were trying to see where they were."
• "We know who our 12 are going to be. We got some good results out of young runners who aren't in the top 12 today. We are a stronger team than last year--more solid. They are in a better position to be more competitive in the conference this year."
NOTES
• A total of 10 Marauders competed in the event. Yoangelys Rijo-Cedeno, Natalie Poulton, Emily Bland, Kait Leister, Elizabeth Rudderow, Victoria Ranck were among those on the roster who were held out of competition Saturday.
• Allie Smith ran a career-best 28:23.7. Pasewicz missed a career-best by just two seconds.
UP NEXT
• The PSAC Championships will be hosted by Bloomsburg University on Friday, Oct. 25.
