Erie, Pa. – The Millersville University women's golf team finished the second round at the Evann Parker Memorial Tournament in seventh place led by junior Joelie Bennett's two-day total 169.
TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS
• The Marauders were paced by Bennett as she shot a two-day total of 169, good for a 13th-place finish. Bennett went 3-over in a span of 10 holes in first round to shoot an opening 11-over 83 that finished the first day in tie for seventh. She shot an 86 on Tuesday.
• Sophomore Hannah Yanoski was Millersville's next finisher as she was three strokes back of Bennett. She tallied a two-day total of 172. Yanoski shot an 87 on Friday afternoon and bounced back with an 85 on Saturday. Yanoski was eight strokes out of a top-five finish but did record a top-20 finish. She finished in a tie for 17th.
• Senior Danielle Greene began the tournament with an 88 on Friday. However, Greene rebounded on Saturday as she had a one-shot improvement to finish with an 87 for a two-day total of 175. That put Greene just outside a top-25 finish as she tied for 27th in the field.
• Millersville's fourth scorer was freshman Alexandra Craig who made her collegiate debut. She placed 55th with a two-day total of 193. Craig recorded her first collegiate round on Friday with a 93 and then carded a 100 on Saturday.
• Rounding out the squad, in another collegiate debut, was Cassandra Vogel, who shot a 212 with a 115 and 107.

HEAD COACH SCOTT VANDEGRIFT QUOTES
• "Overall, I'm happy with our performance. Hopefully, we get a chance to play tomorrow or if not in the next few days due to the incoming weather. I hope that we can play one or two times so that we can help us experience wise."
• "I thought that our three returners could have played a little better but it did not happen. We were not far off. Our two new freshmen played well, never seeing the golf course before. When you never play a golf course before, it had to be very intimidating to them."
• "By the time we get to the PSAC Championship, we will be right where we want to be. I knew that the team would start looking at the numbers. I wanted them to understand the scores that were leading after the first round. I wanted the players to know that they are able to shoot those scores, especially our top three players."
• "Every player on this team is very honest with themselves and they understand their short-comings so I think they are going to make better decisions the next two days and play more to their strengths. The freshmen are going to have the same disadvantage because they have not seen the golf course before. Local knowledge is very important for this upcoming tournament. I'm hoping they walk away happy with the improved decision making that they are going to make tomorrow. I'm hoping our three upperclassmen, not only make better decisions, but exercise patience. I think they pushed too hard today because they had to go as low as they can to finish high. I think that pressure is off now so just go out and play at the level they know and play. As long as we are improving each tournament, the goal is to be ready and competitive for the PSAC Championship at a high level."

• Bennett had the lone birdie in the second round on the par 3 12th.
• Craig recorded three first round birdies--a team high.
