
Martinez-Lucas narrowly loses singles match at PSAC Championships

Bloomsburg, Pa. – Senior Peter Landis and sophomore Carlos Martinez-Lucas of the Millersville University men's tennis team participated in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Championships on Saturday afternoon at Bloomsburg University.
The duo lost their doubles match to the No. 1 seeded tandem of Cormac McCooey and Unai Amilleta Gonzalez of Mercyhurst by a score of 8-3. That doubles team advanced all the way to the final round and will face Nolan Perugini and Josh Carl of Kutztown tomorrow.
Martinez-Lucas also faced Amilleta Gonzalez in his singles match, losing a very well-fought 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 decision. Martinez-Lucas was seeded No. 11, while Amilleta Gonzalez was seeded No. 12. Amilleta Gonzalez advanced to the semifinal round and will continue to compete tomorrow.
Landis' singles opponent, Mauricio Santos, also advanced to the semifinal round. Landis was seeded No. 5 and Santos was seeded No. 6, with Santos winning the match 6-2, 6-3.
The Marauders will conclude their fall season when they host Jefferson on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. on the McComsey Tennis Courts.
