Millersville, Pa. - Millersville baseball has wrapped up its 2018-19 recruiting class with the addition of Northampton Community College's Christian Del Toro.
Del Toro, a native of Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, was an All-Region XIX Third Team selection as the shortstop for the Spartans. He hit .392 with a .468 on base percentage and .608 slugging percentage. He totaled 15 doubles, six home runs and four triples while driving in 46 runs.
Del Toro's play was key in Northampton's 35-15 record and run to a Region XIX Championship and NJCAA World Series appearance.
"We really needed to create some depth in the infield," said Shehan. "Last year we had a pitcher playing the infield at times because of a few injuries. We added two freshmen who have outstanding futures in Jimmy Losh and Tyler Wright, but we still felt as though we were an injury away from moving a few guys out of position. Del Toro adds a proven JUCO bat and a quality defender to the left side. He can play shortstop or third base. He is also a proven winner, competing in the JUCO World Series with Coach Yaguez's squad at Northampton. We are thrilled that Christian chose the Ville."
Millersville's signing class also includes: right-handed pitcher Kris Pirozzi (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg); right-handed pitcher Alex Mykut (Huntingdon, Pa./Huntingdon); right-handed pitcher Aaron Feld (Christiana, Pa./Christiana); infielder Jimmy Losh (New Cumberland, Pa./Cedar Crest); infielder Tyler Wright (Exton, Pa./Devon Prep).
In 2018, Millersville reached the NCAA Atlantic Regional for a seventh consecutive season and also reached the PSAC Championship game for the fourth time in five years. The Marauders graduated just three players and expect to return all four conference starting pitchers and eight of nine position players.
