
Yanoski medals to help Millersville claim the IUP Invitational title

Indiana, Pa. – The Millersville University men's golf team won the rain-shortened 2018 Cecil Spadafora Invitational team title behind freshman Ronnie Yanoski's 1-under 70. The event was limited to 18 holes after Monday's round was rained out.
The last time the Marauders won this event was in 2007. Yanoski's win was his first first-place finish as a Marauder. Millersville shot a 296, edging Charleston by one.
Yanoski started 2-over through the first four holes and then birdied his fifth and eighth holes to get back to even par. He finished the front nine 1-over. Yanoski parred the next six holes, putting him at even par with two holes left. Yanoski birdied the par 3 10th (his 17th hole) to get him to 1-under. Yanoski closed with a par.
Senior Connor Sheehan and senior Mitchell Burns shot a 4-over 75, tying for 15th. Sheehan dropped a shot by bogeying his sixth and eighth holes, going out with a 2-over 37. Sheehan started the back nine with a birdie on 10. Sheehan had trouble on 13 through 15 where he bogeyed each hole to put him a 5-over. Sheehan concluded his round with a birdie on the par 4 ninth hole (his 18th hole).
Burns had a rough start, shooting a 4-over 39 on the front. Burns came out firing in the back nine by parring his first three holes and then birding his 13th and 15th holes to put him a 2-under on the back nine. Burns bogeyed his last two holes to finish even on the back nine. Burns tied his season-low round. Junior Matt Keim recorded a 5-over 76 to tie for 24th. Redshirt sophomore Matt Spak earned a 12-over 83.
The Marauders travel for their final match of the regular season at the Alvernia Invitational on Tuesday, April 24.
