
Women’s golf opens spring schedule with fifth-place finish

Pinehurst, N.C. – The Millersville University women's golf team opened its spring schedule with a fifth-place finish at the Brown Golf Intercollegiate Invitational Saturday. Freshman Hannah Yanoski led the team with lowest two-day total.
Mercyhurst University hosted the Invitational in North Carolina at the Country Club of Whispering Pines.
The Marauders placed fourth after the first day of competition with a score of 344. Millersville totaled 354 in day two that brought the total for the last day to 698. The team was four shots shy of host Mercyhurst in fourth. Merrimack College won the Invitational with a 661. Shirley Ou won the medalist by shooting rounds of 74 and 78.
Yanoski led the squad by tying for 14th place. Yanoski shot a 12-over 84 in the opening round and then recorded a 15-over 87 in the final round.
Junior Danielle Greene finished her second round in a 17th place finish. Greene tied her teammate with a 12-over 84 in the first round but shot an 89 on day two. Greene had the most birdies on the team with three. Senior Alexa Strong broke her season best in a two-day tournament with a tie for 20th finish. Strong went shot 89-87
In a tie for 30th, freshman Belle Keopraseut began her spring season with a rounds of 88 and 91. Keopraseut finished in a tie for 27th. Rounding out the squad, sophomore Joelie Bennett shot an 88. Bennett posted a 95 in the final round.
The Marauders host the Millersville Invitational on Sunday, March 25 at 1 p.m. The tournament will be held at Tanglewood Manor Golf Course.
