
Men’s golf improves by 11 strokes in final round to tie for fourth

Pinehurst, N.C. – Senior Connor Sheehan and freshman Ronnie Yanoski both fired a 1-over 73 in one of their rounds at the Brown Golf Intercollegiate Invitational that began the spring season for the Millersville men's golf team.
The Marauders combined for a 315 first round and a 304 final round. Millersville tied for fourth place with St. Thomas Aquinas with both posting a 619 total. Wayne State (Mich.) won the team title with 589. Wayne State's Nikolas Senkowski claimed the medalist honor by shooting 1-under 71 in both of his rounds.
Sheehan shot 76-73 to tie for fifth place. In the first few holes in the back nine of the second round, Sheehan fired two birdies to get himself to 2-under with six holes left. Sheehan bogeyed his 14th hole to put him back to 1-under. Sheehan doubled-bogeyed his 17th hole to drop to 2-over but Sheehan composed himself and finished with a birdie. In his first round, Sheehan went 39-37 to record a 4-over 76.
Yanoski, in the lineup for the first time in his collegiate career, tied for 18th by shooting a 73-82. Yanoski did not have a bogey till the 14th hole of his first round. Yanoski shot an even 36 in the front nine and then birdied the 11th and 12th hole to get to 2-under. Yanoski finished the first round by bogeying the 14th, 16th and 18th hole to wrap up his 1-over 73.
Redshirt sophomore Matt Spak had a 13 shot improvement from the opening round. Spak shot a final round 2-over 74 and a first round 87 to earn a tie for 32nd place. Spak had a rough start in his second round going 6-over through eight holes. Spak fired four birdies in the rest of the final round to close at 2-over.
Sophomore Brady Erb posted rounds of 85 and 76. Erb finished in a tie for 32nd. Redshirt senior Sean Ebert shot 9-over 81 in both rounds to tie for 41st.
The Marauders get set for the Oglebay Resort Invitational starting on Sunday, April 1.
