GAME OVERVIEW
• The next two games on Millersville's schedule are ultra-important to the team's playoff chances. The Marauders have a chance to sweep both Cheyney and Lock Haven in the next five days, which would position them above each of the other three teams in contention for the No. 6 playoff spot in the PSAC East.
• Expect a close game Saturday. The Millersville-Cheyney match-up almost always is. Earlier this season, Millersville won by six at home. Nine of the last 11 games have been decided by single digits. Millersville has won four of the last five inside Cope Hall.
• Millersville's freshmen have combined for 51 starts so far this season, with James Sullivan having started all 22 and Caden Najdawi starting 16 and D'Marco Suggs 14. No other team in the PSAC has had as many freshmen starts. Freshmen account for 51 percent of the team's total minutes. Sullivan and Najdawi rank second and fourth on the team in average minutes per game.
• Marcus Adkison is closing in on a scoring milestone. He has 964 career points, scoring 812 of those points in 48 games as a Marauder. He is looking to be the first player to score his 1,000th career point as a Marauder since Reggie Bates in 2007-08. There are a total of 35 1,000-point scorers in Millersville history but only five have hit the mark since 2000, and none in the last decade.
• His current streak of 21 consecutive games in double figures is the longest single-season run by a Marauder since Greg Testa did it in all 27 games of the 2005-06 season. SInce becoming a Marauder, Adkison has scored over 20 points 17 times, hitting for 30 or more twice and owns one of just 23 40-point performances in program history. He is one of just 10 players in school history to score 40 points in a game.
• Adkison ranks 10th in the PSAC in scoring average, sixth in free throw percentage and eight in free throw percentage. Adkison is one of only five players in the PSAC shooting better than 80 percent from the line and 40 percent from three. This season is trending toward being historical for Adkison. He is on pace for a second consecutive season with 70-plus 3-pointers, which would put him with Matt Harris (1988-1990) and Lance Gelnett (1990-92) with two seasons in Millersville's top 10. His free throw percentage of .870 is currently .007 ahead of Sam Light's single season school mark (.863).
• It isn't just about scoring for Adkison. He is third in the conference in steals per game with 2.2. He has at least two steals in 15 games. He needs 12 more steals to crack the program's single season top 10. It has been a decade (Charlie Parker, 2007-08) since a Marauder posted a top-10 season.
• Caden Najdawi is quickly emerging as a rim protector. Najdawi now ranks 10th in the PSAC in blocked shots. He blocked a career-high five shots against Mansfield and had two more against West Chester. He's blocked at least one shot in 10 of the last 12 games after posting just two in his first seven games. The last Marauder to rank in the PSAC's top 10 was Elijah Obade in 2012-13.
SCOUTING CHEYNEY
• Cheyney has lost seven in a row since Jan. 3. The Wolves have allowed 84 or more points in six of those games and have failed to score more than 62 in any of those games. Saturday marks the Wolves' first home game since Feb. 3. Cheyney is the PSAC's lowest scoring team by a wide margin, averaging just 56.4 points per game, which is 12 fewer than any other team in the league. The 75 points the Wolves scored at Millersville in the first meeting of 2017-18 remains its highest point output of the season. Cheyney's average margin of defeat is 29.3. Only six teams in the 18-team league have a negative scoring differential and only two are more than 10 points per game.
