Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville University women's basketball team will continue its preseason 500 miles north of Pucillo Gymnasium from Oct. 5-9. The Marauders travel to Montreal where they will play two exhibition games and take in sights from the largest city in the Canadian province of Quebec.

"We have never been on a foreign trip or a preseason trip," head coach Mary Fleig said. "Coach Kunzman initially suggested a foreign trip for preseason. We knew we wanted to go to Canada. Originally we were going to go to Toronto, but they are in the middle of their version of Thanksgiving break so a lot of students from schools up there are not around.

"I've always wanted to go to Canada," said Fleig. "I never had the opportunity to go there, so I'm very excited."

Millersville will depart from campus on Friday, Oct. 5 via charter bus and make the nine-hour journey to the City of Saints.

The Marauders will spend their first day in Montreal at Université du Québec à Montréal, where they will face off against the Lady Citadins. Following the game, Millersville will visit two of the city's most famous sites, Mont Royal Park and Saint Joseph Oratory.

The following day the Marauders will play at one of the most famous sports venues in Montreal, Parc Olympique. They will face the Bishops University Gaiters, who finished 15-12 overall in 2017-18 and appeared in the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) Tournament. Université du Québec à Montréal also competes in the RSEQ.

Millersville will spend the final day of its' trip on Monday, Oct. 8 as tourists, taking in sights from China Town, Old Montreal and the downtown area. A tour guide will accompany the team throughout the day before making the journey back home on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

"We're looking forward to the experience of getting to play those two games," Fleig said. "We have eight new kids, so it's good for them to get some game time experience. Plus there's the experience of going to Canada, touring Montreal and seeing a different area. My alumni always talk about the trips they took with the team and all of the places they got to see while in college. I think it is going to be a great experience for this team."
