Shaw, March earn all-conference honors

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Millersville women's basketball standouts Makiah Shaw and Kali March have been named to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's (PSAC) East Division all-conference teams following stellar 2024-25 campaigns. Shaw was named to the first team while March earned second team honors.

Shaw racked up the honors during her senior season. She became the 22nd player to reach 1,000 career points in a Marauder uniform with a free throw against East Stroudsburg on Jan. 22 and claimed the PSAC Athlete of the Week award on Feb. 10. The sweet-shooting forward finished the year strong, averaging 14.1 points per game (PPG) over the last 14 games including a career-high 29 point performance against East Stroudsburg on Feb. 8. Shaw averaged 12.4 PPG and ranked fourth in the conference in field goal percentage (49.6%) and free throw percentage (83%) for the season.

The Red Lion, Pa. native has the highest career free throw percentage in team history at 79.7% and is 15th all-time in total points with 1158. Shaw's also 15th in Marauder history blocked shots with 85 and 12th in field goal percentage at 44.4%.

"She's well-deserving of it," Marauders head coach Kira Mowen said of Shaw's accomplishments this season. "Offensively, we all know that she's great at the mid-range and can drive off the bounce. Defensively, she's able to lock up post players in our conference and go after rebounds. I'm proud of her and what she's done over the course of her four years. She's extremely hardworking, has great mindset, and I'm proud that she was applauded by the rest of the conference."

March takes home the all-conference nod in her first year playing at the Division II level after transferring from Division III Cornell College prior to this season. She finished the season tops on the team in PPG (12.6) and fifth in the conference in assists per game (3.6), but it was her outside shot that stood out the most; she was third in the PSAC in three-point makes per game (2.3) and fourth in percentage from three (34%). The tireless point guard rarely left the floor and averaged 34.7 minutes per game (MPG), which was fifth most in the league and the highest by a Marauder since Lauren Lister in 2019-20 (37.3 MPG). March's 68 made three pointers in 2024-25 was two off the single-season program record of 70 set by Sara Burcin in 1999–2000. She became the 21st player to reach 1,000 career points in a Marauder uniform with a game-opening layup at Shepherd on Jan. 11.

"The ability to go from level to level and still make an all-conference team says something about your dedication to basketball and your craft," Mowen said of March and her accomplishments this season. "I'm extremely proud of how hard she worked at stepping in and running my point guard role, which is a very intricate position for me as far as what my expectations are and what I want.  She did a great job of trying to manage me and also managing the team by calling plays and being a leader on the floor outside of being able to score and defend players as well."

The pair led the Marauder offense throughout the 2024-25 campaign and their recognition marks the third consecutive year in which Millersville women's basketball has had two all-conference honorees. It's Shaw's second such honor after being named to the second team in 2023-24.
