GREENWOOD, Ind. — Women's basketball standouts
Jillian Crawford and
Brenna Ortwein were named to the Division II College Sports Communicators (D2CSC) Academic All-District teams for their efforts in the classroom and on the hardwood during the 2024-25 campaign. It is the third straight season that Ortwein's earned the honor and the first for Crawford.
Ortwein saved the best for last in her senior season, setting career highs in shooting percentages and per game averages across the board. She led the team in rebounds per game (6.6) and total rebounds (191) for the third time in her career while finishing in a tie for third in the conference in steals per game (2.6). Academically, Ortwein is a psychology major and has accumulated a lifetime grade point average (GPA) of 3.86. She's earned Academic All-District honors every season possible, as athletes who are freshmen academically are not eligible for the award.
Not to be outdone, Crawford is majoring in Allied Health Technology and has also put up a 3.86 cumulative GPA. She appeared in 26 games in 2024-25 and finished second on the team in three pointers made. The highlight of her junior campaign was an efficient effort against Georgian Court on Dec. 15; Crawford went five-of-six from the field and three-of-four from three-point territory en route to a season-high 13 points.
The D2CSC Academic All-District Teams are selected by College Sports Communicators and "recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom." Â To see the full list of 2024-25 basketball honorees,
