GAME OVERVIEW
• Millersville enjoyed a two game winning streak in its bounce back home stretch last week. The Marauders started the home stand with a 69-48 drubbing of East Stroudsburg who currently ranks second in the PSAC East. After sending the Warriors home with one of their worst losses of the season, the Marauders enjoyed a 58-45 victory in a revenge game against Mansfield.
•Freshman
Lauren Lister was sensational in both contests as she lead all scorers in both instances while averaging 23 points per game. Lister's heroics in only her second and third starts earned her first conference accolade as the PSAC named her Co-Athlete of the Week along with West Chester's Mia Hopkins. Lister's scoring was defined by her efficiency. The guard shot a combined 15-27 from the field and above 50 percent in both contests. Lister's aggression in her drives to the basket earned consistent trips to the free throw line where she shot a combined 16-19 from the charity stripe.
• The Marauders are on a roll as they have already matched last year's win total of 10 with seven games left to play. At this point last year, Millersville was only 7-12 and holding a white knuckled grip on the final playoff spot. Now, Head Coach
Mary Fleig's team is in a position to host a playoff game if they continue their play that has defined this current win streak.
• Millersville provided West Chester one of its toughest games this season as the Marauders held leads at the end of the first half and again several minutes into the fourth quarter. Millersville shot a better percentage from the floor compared to West Chester including 12 more points in the paint. The Golden Rams made up for the discrepancy by making more overall three pointers and converting 20-24 free throw attempts. Millersville took less trips to the free throw line and only made 11-19 attempts which severely hurt its chances for an upset.
• Senior
Alayah Hall showed her endurance in that contest as she played all 40 minutes against West Chester. She shot 5-8 from the floor and scored 15 points against the Golden Rams. Her offensive consistency will be called upon again as she has scored in double figures in 18 games this season including 17 games straight.
• Redshirt
Kendra Bamberger lead the team in scoring with 19 points against West Chester last time out. Bamberger's impact on defense will be as important as her offensive impact. As the starting forward, she will be asked to guard Mia Hopkins who ranks second on West Chester in scoring and first in rebounding. Hopkins currently has seven double doubles on the season. Bamberger ranks top-10 in the PSAC in rebounding and can negate Hopkins' impact.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN RAMS
• West Chester is undisputedly one of the best offensive teams in the entire nation. The Golden Rams average 81.1 points per game which ranks 11th, and the team shoots an efficient 46.3 percent from the field which ranks 15th in the nation. Inexplicably, West Chester is unranked despite its 15-4 record and its current 10 game winning streak.
• West Chester's biggest offensive advantage is that the team has four players averaging double-figures. Porscha Speller ranks first on the team with 15.4 points per game while she ranks tenth in the PSAC in scoring. Reigning PSAC Co-Athlete of the Week Mia Hopkins presents another difficult defensive assignment. Hopkins is coming off of two straight double double performances and ranks fourth in the conference in rebounding. The Marauders are more than familiar with Hopkins after she lead all scorers with 22 points in Millersville's match up with West Chester earlier this month.
• The Marauders must be mindful at all times when handling the rock. West Chester loves to turn their opponents over with 20.1 turnovers per game. The Golden Rams' offense feeds off their takeaways as they average 23.4 points per game off turnovers. Millersville played with more care than West Chester's other opponents as the Marauders yielded less turnovers and points off turnovers than West Chester's season averages. Millersville will need to replicate that performance to keep their upset bid alive.
