Lewisburg, Pa. - One day after posting a NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the shot put, Millersville's Sunflower Greene smashed the all-time PSAC weight throw record by almost five feet, recording the fourth-best throw in Division II this season in the process.
Greene's 63-6 1/4 won Saturday's event by nearly 10 feet as runner-up Bucknell's Molly Montalvo hit 53-9. The previous PSAC record was set in 2012 at 58-6 3/4 by Vanita Moses of Lock Haven. Greene's toss on Saturday was 5-3 better than her previous PR.
Greene now holds the all-time conference record in the indoor shot put and weight throw and in the outdoor shot put and the outdoor hammer throw.
Arianna Camel took fifth place in the pentathlon with a career-best total of 3,030 points. Camel ranked third among PSAC competitors.
Three Marauders qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash. Courtney Ingold placed third with a time of 7.93. Emonie Reviere ran a career-best time of 7.99 to take fifth. Destinee Holloman tied for seventh at 8.10.
In the 400-meter run, Lenaiya Flowers (1:00.8) placed sixth and Clara Forney (1:01.38) placed 11th out of 49 runners.
The quartet of Flowers, Forney, Reviere and Kay Liebl ran a season-best time of 4:05.15 in the 4x400-meter relay, which was good enough for second place. The Marauders finished two seconds behind Kutztown but out-ran Shippensburg (4:06.32) and Bloomsburg (4:06.67).
Liebl matched her best jump of the season (16-6) and placed seventh in the long jump. Brianna Doherty placed 10th (16-4 1/4). Both athletes competed the previous night at Franklin & Marshall.
The Marauders travel to Selinsgrove for the SU Challenge on Feb. 3.
