
Bennett leads women’s golf to 10th

Erie, Pa. – Millersville University women's golf team secured 10th at the Michael Corbett Fall Classic hosted by Gannon University Monday afternoon. Sophomore Joelie Bennett led the team by posting a tied for 16th performance.
The Marauders had a two-shot improvement from the first round to total 670 (336-334). Notre Dame College of Ohio was two shots ahead of Millersville at 668 to claim eighth. Ashland received the team champion honors by shooting a 319-301 (623).
Bennett tied for first place in round one with a 2-over 74 to lead the tournament. Bennett recorded a 13-over 85 in the final round. In the tournament, Bennett combined to have five total birdies. Junior Danielle Greene featured a 85-83 to tie for 42nd.
Freshman Belle Keopreaseut finished 2-over on the par 5's and posted a 86-85. Keopreaseut tied for 54th place. With a 16 shot improvement from day one, senior Alexa Strong combined two rounds for a 97-83. Strong took home a tied for 85th place.
Finishing out the team, freshman Morgan Krause shot a 104-99.
Merrimack College's Krystal Knight went low in red numbers to shoot a 1-under 71 in the final round to claim the individual champion. A stroke higher, Camden Morrison from Franklin Pierce and Sarah Herb from Tiffin recorded 75-74.
Women's golf team takes two weeks off and gets ready for the Ursinus Fall Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 26.
