Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Millersville University throwers Sunflower Greene and Amanda Myers turned in top performances against stiff competition at the renowned Penn Relays.
Greene placed fourth and was the top Division II finishers in a field of 54 athletes in the shot put college flight. Greene hit a mark of 47-9 3/4, finishing only behind athletes from Rider, Maryland and Notre Dame. Greene also narrowly missed the finals in the hammer throw and finished in 12th place with a toss of 177-5. She was the only Division II athlete in the field of 31.
Myers took eighth place in the javelin, hitting a mark of 144-5. Like Greene, she was the only Division II athlete in the field and one of only two non-Division I competitors.
Millersville's full team returns to action on Saturday at the Paul Kaiser Classic.
