Millersville, Pennsylvania -- The Millersville men's tennis team celebrated Christian Boyer and Noah Ginder's senior day with an 8-1 dismantling of Lancaster Bible College Thursday.
Millersville took two out of the three doubles matches to start the day. Sophomore Christian Akerley and Boyer blanked their opponents 8-0 while Ginder and junior Jordan Shultz won convincingly 8-2.
Akerley easily dispatched his singles opponent in back-to-back 6-0 sets. Boyer won easily 6-2 and 6-1 while Ginder took care of business with 6-1 and 6-0 sets. Shultz finished his opponent off with back-to-back 6-2 sets. Junior Patrick Maher had all he could handle as he dropped his first set 2-6 before winning the second set 6-4 (10-7). Freshman Adam Kopitsky played a contentious match but won 6-4 and 7-6.
The Millersville men's tennis team's 2016-17 season is now over after being eliminated from playoff contention. The Marauders and first year head coach Matt Helsel had a difficult season, but enter the offseason on a high note as Helsel continues his rebuild of the program.
