GAME NOTES
• The Millersville softball team has key matchups with PSAC East foes West Chester and Shippensburg Friday and Saturday respectively.
• The Marauders are just 2-8 in PSAC East play and recently snapped an eight-game skid with four wins over non-conference opponents Goldey-Beacom and Bowie State. The top three teams in each division make the PSAC playoffs and with four of the remaining six coming this weekend, Millersville is in must-win mode.
Megan McCurdy had a standout four games totaling six runs, five hits and two RBIs in the victories over Goldey-Beacom and Bowie State. Cassidy Pinchorski and Emma Bevard each picked up a pair of wins this week. Bevard came on in relief to pick up the win in game two against the Lightning and started game two against Bowie State throwing five innings and striking out five without allowing a run. In the three games Pinchorski threw 18.1 innings giving up just five earned runs while striking out four batters.
• Senior Brittany Smith has been on a tear of late, collecting nine hits in the last four games. Against Bowie State, Smith had three hits in the second game tying her for first place all-time in career hits at Millersville with 198.

HONORING THE SENIORS
• Saturday marks the last homestand for seniors Heather Lutz and Brittany Smith. The tandem helped Millersville to its best season in program history in 2016 with the first ever PSAC Tournament appearance.
Heather Lutz was thrust into the Marauder lineup as a freshman starting 46 games and batting .308. Lutz has played in 183 games for her career batting .311 while committing just two errors in the field.
• Lutz ranks in the top 10 at Millersville in career at bats, runs scored, hits, runs batted in, doubles, fielding percentage, walks, and slugging percentage. In 2017 the Horsham native has smacked 15 doubles, giving her 52 for her career and shattering the Marauder record of 42. Lutz also ranks in the top 10 in the conference in on-base percentage, runs scored, doubles, and leads the PSAC with 23 walks and 12 hit-by-pitches.
• In 2016 Lutz was named All-PSAC East after hitting .340 with 48 hits leading the team in walks (22) and on-base percentage (.460). The Hatboro-Horsham product has been named a PSAC Scholar Athlete the last two years.
Brittany Smith also made an impact from the beginning, hitting .308 as a freshman while playing first base. The Wyomissing native's production continued to increase over the years and is currently batting .457 which leads the PSAC in batting average.
• Smith ranks in the top 10 in at bats, runs, hits, runs batted in, home runs, doubles, triples, fielding percentage, batting average, slugging percentage and putouts. Smith ranks first all-time with 16 home runs, 198 hits, 115 RBIs, and 1,137 putouts.
• The Wilson High School product ranks fifth all-time at Millersville with 567 at bats, 34 doubles, eight triples, and a slugging percentage of .522.
• Smith currently leads the PSAC in batting average (over 100 at bats) hitting .457 and is top 10 in slugging percentage, on-base percentage, runs scored, hits, RBIs and doubles.
• In 2016, Smith hit .342 with a team-high seven home runs and 35 RBIs en route to her first All-PSAC East selection, helping clinch the PSAC Tournament berth with a game-winning home run against Shippensburg. Smith has been named a PSAC Scholar-Athlete twice and is majoring in elementary and special education.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN RAMS
• West Chester sits near the top of the division with a 31-9 and a 6-2 PSAC record. When the two teams matched up earlier in the month, the Golden Rams took a sweep winning 4-1 and 4-3 on the road.
•West Chester recently split with Kutztown, swept Holy Family and split with Shepard. Kutztown currently sits atop the PSAC East standings with a record of 8-2.
• Much like the last time the two sides met, the Golden Rams feature four batters with an average of .360 or higher lead by Sara Walasavage who is hitting .401 with three home runs. Walasavage leads the PSAC in runs scored (46), stolen bases (29), and is third in hits (57). Just behind Walasavage ranks Sara Ercolani who holds a .383 average but is leading the team with six home runs and second on the team with 34 RBIs. Slugger Cat Hammer leads the league in RBIs with 38 and triples with five.
• The ace of the staff is Amanda Houck with a record of 22-2 and an era of 1.13. Houck ranks first in innings pitched, strikeouts, and wins while sitting second in earned run average.
• In the first game, West Chester jumped out in front 1-0 until Heather Lutz singled in Megan McCurdy to tie the game 1-1. The Golden Rams would score a pair in the sixth and one in the seventh as the Marauder bats could not match their counterparts. In the second game, West Chester took a 4-1 lead after two but Millersville would not go down easily, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh and coming within one base of tying the game.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
 • Shippensburg sits two spots ahead of Millersville in the PSAC East with a record of 22-17 (5-5 PSAC). The Raiders have gone 6-2 in their last eight games splitting with the Kutztown Golden Bears Saturday.
•  Shippensburg has a balanced lineup with four batters hitting .302 or higher. Chloe Collins leads the Raiders in average, hits, doubles, slugging percentage, stolen bases, total bases and runs batted in. Meghan Klee and Emily Zaring are each hitting over .300 and have three home runs so far on the season.
• From a pitching standpoint, the Raiders have a deep staff with four hurlers appearing in 14 or more games. Nicole Smith leads the team in earned run average (1.53) but Taryn Wilson and Chloe Collins each have seven wins to their name.
• The first matchup was filled with offense as the Raiders jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings but the Marauders responded with three in the top of the third. Four different Marauders had an RBI but Millersville came up just short losing 7-5. Emma Bevard started game two and the long ball was in effect for Millersville. Heather Lutz smacked two home runs and Birttany Smith sealed the game in the seventh with a grand slam to make the score 7-3.
