ABOUT THE MARAUDERS
• Millersville opens PSAC Eastern Division play Friday, beginning its quest for a fifth consecutive PSAC Eastern Division title. Millersville has not lost a PSAC East series since March of 2012--a streak of 31 in a row with no fewer than two wins in each four-game series. The Marauders' home opener loss to Shepherd on March 5 ended a run of 27 consecutive home victories. Kutztown was the last PSAC East team to beat the Marauders at Cooper Park. That came on April 17, 2015.
• Chas McCormick is off to an outstanding start at the plate, hitting .414 with a PSAC-leading 29 hits. McCormick has a hit in 16 of 18 games and has been on base in 17 of 18. He has swiped at least one base in seven consecutive games, making him 10-for-10 on the season. McCormick is closing in several program career records. He needs 14 runs and 14 hits to tie both. He is also 25 RBIs shy of the RBI record.
• Dan Neff is the team-leader in multi-hit games with eight. He already has eight extra-base hits including a career-high three home runs.
• Ted Williams has recovered nicely after a slow start in which he went 1-for-16 as the team's No. 2 hitter. Since moving to the No. 9 spot in the lineup, Williams has reached base in all 14 games, drawing 16 walks while hitting .382 for a .580 OBP.
• After Tyler Orris started 224 of 229 games at shortstop over four seasons, Millersville has started three players at the spot in the first 18 games of 2016.  Grayson Miller has started seven in a row with the team posting a 6-1 record in that span. The Marauders also went 5-0 with Eric Callahan as the starter. Miller has hit 5-for-22 (.227) in those starts and has one error in 15 chances. He has the top fielding percentage among the three shortstops.
• Millersville has finished no lower than fourth in the PSAC in fielding percentage in nine of the last 10 seasons so it is uncharacteristic to see the Marauders currently ranked 12th in the league in that category. Millersville has also turned the league's fewest double plays with two. The Marauders have ranked in the top three in double plays turned in each of the last three seasons.
• Millersville's starting pitching is rounding into shape at the right time. Reigning PSAC East Freshman of the Year Cordell Shannon needed five starts to pick up his first win but he tossed five shutout innings against IUP in his last start. David Manasek has tossed 14 consecutive shutout innings, allowing just four hits and no walks while striking out 15 in that span. Eli Nabholz has been the team's most consistent starter, posting a 3-0 record and 3.49 ERA with 36 strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings pitched. Millersville has won all five of Nabholz' starts. Nabholz has allowed no more than three runs in any of his five starts. Freshman Tyler Yankosky is slated to get the nod in game two.
• Millersville's bullpen has been outstanding. Mike Mock is 2-0 with three saves in five appearances, allowing just two hits while striking 13 in 9 2/3 innings. In 43 innings pitched by eight relievers, Millersville has allowed nine earned runs for a 1.88 ERA. The pen has combined for an 8-1 record.

SERIES HISTORY
• In 2016, Millersville scored its first four-game series sweep over Kutztown since 2000 and won the games by a combined score of 40-6. The Marauders totaled 27 runs in the two home games. Last season was the first time Millersville won both home games against Kutztown since 2012. Millersville has never lost a regular season series to Kutztown under the direction of Jon Shehan. Since Shehan's first season in 2008, the Marauders won the series in 2016, 2015, 2013, 2011, 2008 with splits in 2009, 2010 and 2012. The last time Kutztown won a regular season series over Millersville was in 2007. The Golden Bears won all four games that season and set a then-PSAC record with a 49-7 record and 19-1 PSAC East record. Last season's Millersville team broke that wins record with 53 victories.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
• Kutztown is 3-5 since March 10 but are coming off a 2-1 victory over Wilmington on March 21. Four of the team's seven losses have come by two runs or fewer. Kutztown used eight pitchers in the nine inning win over Wilmington. The Golden Bears gave up just three hits and Doug Conrad improved to 3-0 with two scoreless innings in relief. Seven Kutztown pitchers have thrown at least 11 2/3 innings already this season, but only Conrad has topped the 20-inning mark. He's appeared in six games with two starts. Kurtis Hultz leads the team in starts with four but has totaled just 12 innings and owns an 8.25 ERA. Mike Kammerer has been the top starter, totaling a 2.50 ERA with 24 strikeouts to four walks in 18 innings. He struck out 12 in five innings against IUP.
• Kutztown is led at the plate by Collin Bishop's .378 batting average and .429 on base percentage. He enters the weekend on a five-game hitting streak. Joe Santospago has a team-leading four homers, hitting one in each of the first three games of the season. After a hot start, however, he has gone hitless in six of his last eight. Still, against Barton on March 15, Santospago went 5-for-5 with four runs.
• Catcher Derian Sarlat is a four-year starter behind the plate and hit .279 last season. Kutztown graduated its lone 2016 All-PSAC East selection.
