
Millersville's Greene set for NCAA Championships

Birmingham, Alabama - Millersville University sophomore Sunflower Greene will begin her quest for All-America honors in the shot put Saturday at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Greene is a part of the first of two flights which a total of 17 athletes competing. Greene qualified for the field after hitting a NCAA provisional mark and breaking a school record at 47-8 in her first competition of the indoor season. Action at the championships began Thursday and concludes Saturday. Greene's event begins at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday. Live video will not be available for the shot put event.
Greene was named USTFCCCA All-Region in the shot put and placed third at the PSAC Championships. She took third at the PSAC Outdoor Championships in 2016 as well. Greene was Millersville's first All-PSAC performer in the indoor shot put and the program's first indoor national qualifier in the event.
Among competitors in the event, Greene's season best ranks 14th. Ashland's Megan Tomei owns the top mark of 52-2 1/2. Greene was one of two athletes from the PSAC to reach nationals. The top eight finishers are award All-America recognition. Entering the competition, the eighth-best throw is 49-9 3/4.
