
Greene's record-setting throws highlight impressive open to indoor season

Lancaster, Pa. - Sunflower Greene won the weight throw in a record-setting duel against teammate Madison Martin then reset her own school record in the shot put. Millersville runners also swept the sprinting events in an impressive season-opening performance at Franklin & Marshall's Diplomat Invitational.
The Marauders totaled 18 PSAC Indoor Championships qualifying marks in their first events of the season. The Marauders totaled seven event victories, competing in a field with 20 programs.
Greene, coming off a PSAC Outdoor MVP season, crushed her own school record for a first-place finish in the weight throw, hitting mark of 54-8 1/4. But she did that in her final toss, and prior to that, sophomore teammate Madison Martin had hit 52-2 3/4 to momentarily break the program record Greene had set last season. Martin finished second overall while Stephanie Garner (44-11 1/2) took seventh and Amanda Myers (41-7) took 11th. All four Marauders hit PSAC Championships qualify marks.
In the shot put, Greene hit 49-1 1/2, out-distancing her throw from last season's NCAA Indoor Championships by more than a foot and well past the NCAA provisional qualifying line of 44 3/4.
Saturday was a strong day for the Marauder runners as well. Courtney Ingold won both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes, qualifying for the league championships in both events. Ingold's 7.88 in the 60 was a personal-best and the third-fastest time in program history. She ran a time of 26.50 in the 200.
Ingold fronted a crew of five Marauders in to the six in the 60. Taking second was Emonie Reviere with a PSAC qualifying time of 8.00. Reviere also took third in the 200 at 27.01. Freshman Destinee Holloman ran an impressive first race, finishing fourth at 8.03, and Clara Forney took fifth with a PR time of 8.06.
Forney also qualified for the PSAC's in the 400-meter dash with a first-place finish and personal-best tme of 59.42. Freshman Lenaiya Flowers also hit a PSAC qualifying time of 1:00.54 with her runner-up finish.
Senior Aniya Gibbs took first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.72. Arianna Camel returned from a year off the track with a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles.
A pair of Marauders hit PSAC marks in the pole vault. Erin Winters cleared a personal-best height of 11-0 and placed second. Erin Harman hit 10-6. Long jumper Brianna Doherty also hit a PSAC qualifying mark with a personal-best indoor jump of 17-5 1/2 and placed second.
To close the event, the Marauders won the 4x400-meter relay.
Millersville is back in action on Dec. 8 at Lehigh's Fast Times Invitational.
