Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville University women's swimming team donated 55 pounds of canned goods to Water Street Mission on Saturday, Nov. 4 as part of a canned food drive held during the tri-meet with Cedar Crest and Lock Haven. The Marauders doubled the amount of goods from last season's drive.
Last season, the Marauders did the same drive at its home meet against California (Pa.) and received 25 pounds of canned goods.
"This is a tremendous impact on the students," said head coach Kyle Almoney. "As one of our core values to serve. It allows us to follow our core values and also impact numerous needy people with food to help them get fed. So from the standpoint that the swimmers' and friends were able to get things to help those in need is a tremendous opportunity. And to help a great organization such as the water street mission is a blessing as well. We are very fortunate to have that opportunity."
